Crown Heights Transformation: Porcelain Bluestone Tile, Concrete Planters, Artificial Turf, and Cedar Lattice Wall – $6,500

A young couple moved into a Crown Heights home and was referred by their neighbor to reach out  to Adkins Landscape contracting, to schedule an on-site consultation for a backyard makeover. 

A landscape technician visited the 350-square-foot backyard to evaluate the site and hear the couple’s vision. The technician walked the space, observed fence lines, sun exposure, and drainage, then asked about how they would actually use the yard. They described a retreat where simplicity and function met comfort: a place for quiet evenings, outdoor dining, and a safe, low-maintenance oasis for their dog.

Taking their input to heart, the technician prepared a 3D rendering that translated ideas into reality. The plan showcased porcelain bluestone tiles as a sleek, durable surface, creating a refined foundation for outdoor living. The opposite half would be lush artificial turf, giving their pet a comfortable, year-round spot to relax. Along the walls, cedar wood lattice panels added warmth and texture, delivering a vibrant yet restrained vertical dimension that complemented the modern aesthetic. English lavender and sage were selected for fragrance, color, and resilience, weaving subtle notes of calm through the space.

The project unfolded over five days, with careful site prep, precise stone installation, turf placement, lattice mounting, and thoughtful plantings. The total came to $6,500, reflecting quality materials and meticulous craftsmanship. When completed, the backyard offered a serene, modern sanctuary—an ideal escape, built to be enjoyed for years to come.
